Elja Rochkind

Elja Rochkind wurde 1900 in Schaulen geboren, einer litauischen Stadt, in der Juden bis in das 19. Jh. die Bevölkerungsmehrheit stellten. Elja Rochkind war von Beruf Sattler. Vermutlich musste er im Sommer 1941 in das Schaulener Ghetto umsiedeln und wurde von dort drei Jahre später in das Konzentrationslager Mühldorf am Inn deportiert. Elja Rochkind musste im Außenkommando Mittergars unter härtesten Bedingungen Zwangsarbeit leisten. Dort kam er am 4. März 1945 unter unbekannten Umständen ums Leben. Elja Rochkind war 44 Jahre alt.

Elja Rochkind was born in 1900 in Šiauliai, a Lithuanian city whose population up to the 19th century was mostly Jewish. Elja Rochkind was a saddler. It was probably in the summer of 1941 that he had to move to the Šiauliai ghetto; from there, he was deported three years later to the concentration camp Mühldorf am Inn. Elja Rochkind was forced to work as a forced labourer under cruel conditions in the external concentration camp unit at Mittergars. He died there on 4 March 1945 under unknown circumstances. Elja Rochkind was 44 years old.
