Emerih Boroš

Emerih Boroš wurde 1893 als Sohn von Adolf Boroš in der ungarisch-kroatischen Region Baranja geboren. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges floh der Chemiker mit seiner Frau Laura und der gemeinsamen Tochter Iliona nach Belgrad. Die Familie lebte dort in der Strahinjića Bana 41. Im April 1941 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht auch Serbien. Im Sommer trieben die Besatzer als Reaktion auf einen Volksaufstand die Vernichtung der Juden voran. Im Konzentrationslager Topovske Šupe ermordeten Erschießungskommandos der Wehrmacht tausende jüdische Männer. Eines der Opfer war Emerih Boroš. Die Besatzer erschossen ihn am 21. Oktober 1941. Er wurde 48 Jahre alt.

Emerih Boroš was born in 1893 as the son of Adolf Boroš, in the Hungarian-Croatian region of Baranja. He was a chemist. During the Second World War, he fled to Belgrade with his wife, Laura, and their daughter, Iliona. They lived at 41 Strahinjića Bana Street. In April 1941, the German Wehrmacht occupied Serbia. In the summer, the occupiers advanced their extermination of Jews in retaliation for a popular uprising. Wehrmacht firing squads murdered thousands of Jewish men in the Topovske Šupe concentration camp. One of the victims was Emerih Boroš. The occupiers shot him on October 21, 1941. He was 48 years old.
