Mika Gabaj

Schüler, geboren 1923 in Belgrad, ermordet 1943 in Brlog

Mika Gabaj wurde 1923 als Sohn von Solomon und Gizela Gabaj in Belgrad geboren. Er war Schüler und wohnte dort mit seinen Eltern in der Gospodar Jovanova 16. Im April 1941 marschierte die Wehrmacht in Serbien ein. Die deutschen Besatzer setzten umgehend Repressionsmaßnahmen gegen die jüdische Bevölkerung um und begannen im Sommer 1941 mit der Vernichtung der Juden. Mika Gabaj befand sich 1943 vermutlich als Partisan oder als Flüchtling in Kroatien. Mitglieder der faschistischen Ustascha-Bewegung erschossen ihn im Dorf Brlog im Norden des Landes. Mika Gabaj war 20 Jahre alt.

Mika Gabaj, the son of Solomon and Gizella Gabaj, was born in 1923 in Belgrade. He was a schoolboy and lived with his parents at 16 Gospodar Jovanova. In April 1941, the Wehrmacht marched into Serbia. The German occupiers immediately launched repressive measures against the Jews and in the summer of 1941 began with their systematic extermination. Mika Gabaj was in 1943 in Croatia, probably as a partisan or as a refugee. Members of the fascist Ustascha movement shot him in the village of Brlog in the north of the country. Mika Gabaj was 20 years old.
