Arzt, geboren 1889 in Tarnopol/Ternopil, ermordet 1942 in Belzec/Bełżec (VL)

Ozjasz Margules wurde 1889 in der ostgalizischen Stadt Tarnopol geboren. Er war Arzt und lebte mit seiner Ehefrau Rosa in Lemberg. Am 30. Juni 1941 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Stadt. Bereits in den ersten Tagen ermordeten Wehrmachtsangehörige, SS-Männer und ukrainische Nationalisten 4.000 Juden. Es folgten Ghettoisierung, Zwangsarbeit und willkürliche Erschießungen. Im März 1942 wurde der Judenrat dazu gezwungen, Namenslisten von Menschen anzufertigen, die angeblich zum Arbeitsdienst nach Osteuropa verschickt werden sollten. Während dieser „Aktion“ verschleppte die SS 15.000 Juden in das Vernichtungslager Bełżec und ermordete sie dort mit Motorabgasen. Eines der Opfer war Ozjasz Margules. Er war 53 Jahre alt.

Ozjasz Margules was born in 1889 in the East Galician city of Tarnopol. He was a physician and lived together with his wife Rosa in Lvov. On June 30th, 1941, the German Wehrmacht occupied the city. In the first days of the occupation, members of the Wehrmacht, SS men and Ukrainian nationalists murdered about 4,000 Jews. Ghettoization, forced labour, arbitrary executions and deportations followed. In March 1942, the occupiers forced the Jewish council to provide them with lists of names with people who were allegedly deported to Eastern Europe to do forced labour. During this so called “Action” the SS in fact deported 15,000 Jews to the Bełżec extermination camp where they were poisoned with motor exhaust. Ozjasz Margules was one of the victims. He was 53 years old.
