Franziska Born

Franziska Born wurde am 3. April 1871 in der mecklenburgischen Stadt Neubrandenburg geboren. Sie war die jüngste von vielen Geschwistern. Mit ihrem Mann Max bekam sie zwei Söhne und eine Tochter. Die Familie lebte auf der Insel Rügen und in Stralsund, wo sich Franziska Born politisch liberal engagierte. Franziska Born wurde schon mit 35 Jahren Witwe und zog in die Großstadt Berlin. Im Alter kam sie bei ihrem Sohn Willy in der Charlottenburger Kantstraße unter. Am 18. Mai 1943 deportierten SS und Polizei Franziska Born mit dem sogenannten 88. Alterstransport in das Ghettolager Theresienstadt. Auf den Tag genau ein Jahr später verschleppte man sie nach Auschwitz, wo sie zunächst eine Nummer in den Arm tätowiert bekam und in das sogenannte Familienlager eingewiesen wurde. Der genaue Zeitpunkt ihres Todes ist nicht bekannt. Franziska Born war 73 Jahre alt.

Franziska Born was born on April 3rd, 1871 in the German town of Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg. She was the youngest of many siblings. She and her husband Max had two sons and a daughter. The family lived on the island of Rügen and in Stralsund, where Franziska Born was active in liberal politics. Franziska Born was widowed at the early age of 35, and moved to the city of Berlin. When she grew older, she lived with her son Willy on Kantstrasse in the Charlottenburg district. On May 18th, 1943, SS and police deported Franziska Born in what was called the 88th Elderly Transport to the Theresienstadt ghetto camp. A year later to the day, she was taken to Auschwitz, where she first had a number tattooed on her arm and was then interned in the so-called family camp. The exact date of her death is not known. Franziska Born was 73 years old.
