Sofie Dornbusch

Sofie Dornbusch wurde am 17. Juli 1909 in dem kleinen Ort Malchow an der mecklenburgischen Seenplatte geboren. Sie heiratete den aus dem Rheinland stammenden, zehn Jahre älteren Wilhelm Dornbusch und zog zu ihm nach Hennef an der Sieg. Das Paar bekam 1931 und 1936 zwei Söhne, Barthel und Heinz. Am 19. Juli 1942 wurde die Familie Dornbusch zu einer Messehalle in Köln getrieben und einen Tag später nach Minsk deportiert. Der Transport mit insgesamt 1.164 Menschen kam vier Tage später an. Unmittelbar nach der Ankunft wurden Sofie Dornbusch, ihr Mann und ihre beiden Söhne in der Vernichtungsstätte Malyi Trostenez erschossen. Sofie Dornbusch war 33 Jahre alt.

Sofie Dornbusch was born on July 17th, 1909 in the village of Malchow in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Germany. She married Wilhelm Dornbusch, who was ten years older and came from the Rhineland, and moved to where he lived in Hennef on the River Sieg. The couple had two sons, Barthel and Heinz, one in 1931 and the other in 1936. On July 9th, 1942, the Dornbusch family was herded into a trade fair hall in Cologne, and a day later deported to Minsk. The train with a total of 1.164 people on board arrived four days later. Immediately after their arrival, Sofie Dornbusch, her husband and both their sons were shot dead in the Maly Trostenets extermination camp. Sofie Dornbusch was 33 years old.
