Alta Winograd

Alta Winograd lebte mit ihrem Mann Mendel Winograd in Brest-Litowsk, einer damals polnischen Stadt im heutigen Weißrussland. Bereits zwei Wochen nach der Besetzung der Stadt im Juni 1941 erschossen deutsche Polizei- und Wehrmachtsangehörige etwa 5000 Juden. Im Oktober 1942 lösten deutsche Polizeidienststellen das Ghetto von Brest-Litowsk auf und erschossen dessen Bewohner im Wald von Bronnaja Gora. Von den über 20 000 Juden der Stadterlebten nur 10 bis 15 die Befreiung durch die Rote Armee. Von Alta Winograd hat man nie mehr etwas gehört.

Alta Winograd lived with her husband Mendel Winograd in the city of Brest-Litowsk, in what was then Poland, now Belarus. Only two weeks after occupying the city in June 1941, German police and members of the German Army shot about 5,000 Jews. In October 1942, German police units dissolved the ghetto in Brest-Litowsk and shot its residents in the forest of Bronnaja Gora. Of the city’s more than 20,000 Jews, only 10 to 15 lived to see the liberation by the Red Army. Alta Winograd was never heard from again.
