Chaim Zabielo

Chaim Zabielo lebte mit seiner Frau Sarah und den Söhnen Zelig und Yosef in der kleinen nordpolnischen Stadt Kolno, nahe dem damaligen Ostpreußen. Mehr als die Hälfte der Bevölkerung der Stadt war jüdisch. Am 22. Juni 1941 erreichte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Region. In ihrem Gefolge befanden sich Einsatzkommandos, die sofort mit der Ermordung der Juden begannen. Innerhalb von zwei Wochen im Juli 1941 ermordeten sie nahezu alle jüdischen Bewohner von Kolno bei Massenerschießungen. Unter ihnen befand sich auch Chaim Zabielo.

Chaim Zabielo lived with his wife Sarah and their sons Zelig and Yosef in the small town of Kolno in northern Poland, near what was then East Prussia. More than half the town’s population was Jewish. On 22 June 1941, the German Army reached the area. In their wake were Mobile Killing Squads, which immediately commenced with the murder of the Jews. Within two weeks in July of 1941, they murdered nearly all the Jews of Kolno in mass shooting operations. Among those murdered was Chaim Zabielo.
