Leah Schwarzbard

Leah Schwarzbard wuchs in Ostrow Mazowiecka auf, einer ländlichen Kleinstadt nordöstlich von Warschau. Sie heiratete einen Mann aus dem gleichen Ort und bekam mit ihm Kinder. Später zog die Familie nach Bialystok, eine Industriestadt im Nordosten Polens. Im Sommer 1941 besetzte die Deutsche Wehrmacht Bialystok. Leah Schwarzbard entging den ersten Erschießungen und der Folter. Im August 1941 mussten sie und ihre Familie ins Ghetto ziehen. Im Sommer 1943 fiel sie den katastrophalen Lebensbedingungen dort zum Opfer.

Leah Schwarzbard grew up in Ostrow Mazowiecka, a rural town northeast of Warsaw. She married a man from the same area and started a family with him. Later, they moved to Bialystok, an industrial center in northeastern Poland. In the summer of 1941, the German Army occupied Bialystok. Leah Schwarzbard escaped the first mass shootings and torture. In August 1941 she and her family had to move into a ghetto, where she died in the summer of 1943 as a result of the catastophic conditions there.
