Edmund Lustig

Edmund Lustig wurde am 24. Juni 1899 in der Nähe der rumänischen Stadt Klausenburg geboren. Er heiratete und gründete mit seiner Frau Iolanda eine Familie. Im März 1944 besetzte die Deutsche Wehrmacht die Stadt. Edmund Lustig wurde zusammen mit über 18.000 jüdischen Einwohnern der Region gezwungen, fortan in einem Ghetto zu leben. Von dort aus wurde er nach Auschwitz deportiert und anschließend weiter in das Konzentrationslager Mauthausen nach Österreich verschleppt. Dort starb Edmund Lustig. Die genauen Umstände sind nicht bekannt. Er war 45 Jahre alt.

Edmund Lustig was born on 24 June 1899 near the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca. He married and he and his wife Iolanda started a family. In March 1944 the German Wehrmacht occupied the city. Edmund Lustig immediately had to move into a ghetto, together with more than 18,000 Jews from the region. He was deported from there to Auschwitz, and then to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria. Edmund Lustig died there. The exact circumstances of his death are unknown. He was 45 years old.
