Łaja Hudes Solnik wurde am 20. März 1891 in der polnischen Hauptstadt Warschau geboren.Mit dem Einmarsch deutscher Truppen im September 1939 begann die schrittweise Entrechtung und Ausbeutung der Juden. Im Oktober 1940 riegelten die Besatzer einen Teil der Stadt ab und erklärten ihn zum Ghetto. Über 400.000 Juden lebten dort fortan unter katastrophalen Bedingungen. Bis zum Sommer 1942 starben etwa 100.000 Ghettobewoher an Hunger und Krankheit. Unter den Opfern war auch Łaja Hudes Solnik. Sie starb am 13. Juni 1941 im Alter von 50 Jahren.

Łaja Hudes Solnik was born on 20 March 1891 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The arrival of German troops in September 1939 marked the start of the gradual deprivation of rights and property of the Jewish citizens. In October 1940 the occupiers cordoned off a part of the city and declared it a ghetto. From that point on, more than 400,000 Jews were forced to live there, under catastrophic conditions. By the summer of 1942 about 100,000 ghetto inhabitants had died of hunger and disease. Among the victims was Łaja Hudes Solnik. She died on 13 June 1941 at the age of 50.
