Rozalja Süsskind

geboren 1922 in Kolbuszowa, ermordet 1942 in Belzec/Bełżec (VL)

Rozalja Süsskind wuchs zusammen mit ihren Geschwistern in Kolbuszowa auf, einer Kleinstadt im Süden Polens. Obwohl Rozalja in einer streng-religiösen Umgebung aufwuchs, gehörte sie der zionistischen Bewegung an. Sie absolvierte eine Lehre als Näherin, als die Deutsche Wehrmacht Kolbuszowa besetzte. Die Familie floh in die Sowjetunion - mit Ausnahme von Rozalja und ihrer krebskranken Mutter. 1940 starb die Mutter, 1941 musste Rozalja ins Ghetto ziehen. Am 7. Juli 1942 wurde sie in das Vernichtungslager Belzec deportiert und mit Motorabgasen vergiftet. Rozalja Süsskind wurde 20 Jahre alt.

Rozalja Süsskind grew up with her siblings in Kolbuszowa, a small city in southern Poland. Though Rozalja was surrounded by an orthodox Jewish environment, she belonged to the Zionist movement. She had completed studies to become a seamstress when the Deutsche German Army occupied Kolbuszowa. The family fled to the Soviet Union – with the exception of Rozalja and her mother, who had cancer. In 1940 her mother died; in 1941 Rozalja had to move into a ghetto. On 7 July 1942 she was deported to the extermination camp Belzec and poisoned with exhaust fumes. Rozalja Süsskind was 20 years old.
