Verkäuferin ermordet 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau (VL)

Johana Wollner lebte im slowakischen Velký Meder. Mit ihrem Mann Kálmán betrieb sie ein Bekleidungsgeschäft. Das Paar hatte drei Kinder. Im November 1938 musste die Slowakei das Grenzgebiet an Ungarn abtreten. Die neuen Machthaber setzten sofort antijüdische Maßnahmen in der Stadt um, die nun Nagymegyer hieß. Sehr wahrscheinlich raubten sie Familie Wollner das Geschäft. Als deutsche Truppen das Land Anfang 1944 besetzten, deportierten SS-Einsatzkommandos die jüdischen Bewohner in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz, wo sie fast alle mit Zyklon B erstickt wurden. Unter den Ermordeten war auch Johana Wollner.

Johana Wollner lived in the Slovakian town of Veľký Meder. She and her husband Kálmán ran a clothing shop. The couple had three children. In November 1938 Slovakia was forced to cede the border territory to Hungary. The new authorities immediately enacted anti-Jewish measures in the town, which they now called Nagymegyer. It is probable that the Wollner family store was confiscated. When German troops occupied the country in early 1944, SS task commandos deported the Jews to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where almost all of them were asphyxiated with Zyklon B. Johana Wollner was among those murdered.
