Artur Warga

Student, geboren 1924 in Warschau/Warszawa, ermordet 1943 in unbekannt

Artur Warga kam am 14. Oktober 1924 in Warschau zur Welt. Zusammen mit seinem Bruder wuchs er in der polnischen Hauptstadt heran. Kurz vor seinem 15. Geburtstag marschierte die Wehrmacht in Warschau ein. Im November 1940 mussten Artur Warga und seine Familie ins Ghetto ziehen. Er wurde Mitglied einer jüdischen Kampforganisation und nahm aktiv am Ghettoaufstand 1943 teil. Seiner Gruppe und ihm gelang es, anschließend zu entkommen. Soweit bekannt, wurde Artur Warga im Mai 1943 von Polen in einem Wald ermordet.

Artur Warga was born on October 14th, 1924 in Warsaw. He grew up with his brother in the Polish capital. Shortly before Artur’s 15th birthday, the German Army occupied Warsaw. In November 1940 Artur Warga and his family had to move into a ghetto. Artur was a member of a Jewish resistance group and played an active part in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising in spring 1943. He and his group managed to escape. As far as is known, he was then killed in a forest by Poles that May.
