Chaim Ostreicher

Chaim Ostreicher wurde 1933 im slowakischen Király Helmec geboren, einer kleinen slowakischen Stadt in der viele Juden lebten. Sie arbeiteten häufig als Bauern oder Kleinhändler. Im Frühjahr 1944 besetzten deutsche Truppen das Land. SS und Polizeieinheiten trieben die jüdischen Männer, Frauen und Kinder am 16. April 1944 zusammen, verschleppten sie in ein Ghetto und von dort in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz. Die meisten wurden unmittelbar nach ihrer Ankunft mit Giftgas erstickt. Unter den Ermordeten war auch Chaim Ostreicher. Er war 11 Jahre alt.

Chaim Ostreicher was born in 1933 in the Slovakian town of Király Helmec, a small town that was home to many Jews. Most of them worked as farmers or merchants. German troops occupied the country in the spring of 1944. SS and police units forced the Jewish men, women and children to assemble on 16 April 1944, deported them to a ghetto, and from there to the Auschwitz extermination camp. Most of them were asphyxiated with poison gas shortly after arriving. Chaim Ostreicher was among those murdered. He was 11 years old.
