Yehoshua Ostreicher

Yehoshua Ostreicher wurde 1940 in slowakischen Király Helmec geboren, das zu dieser Zeit zu Ungarn gehörte Im Frühjahr 1944 besetzten deutsche Truppen das Land. Damit begann die systematische Vernichtung der Juden. Am 16. April 1944 trieben SS und Polizeieinheiten alle Juden von Király Helmec zusammen und verschleppten sie in ein nahe gelegenes Ghetto. Von dort aus wurden sie weiter in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz deportiert und unmittelbar nach ihrer Ankunft mit Giftgas erstickt. Yehoshua Ostreicher war vier Jahre alt.

Yehoshua Ostreicher was born in 1940 in the Slovakian town of Király Helmec, which still belonged to Hungary at that point. German troops occupied the country in the spring of 1944. This marked the start of the systematic extermination of the Jews. On 16 April 1944 SS and police units forced all the Jews of Király Helmec to gather, and brought them a nearby ghetto. From there, they deported them to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where the Jews were asphyxiated with poison gas shortly after arrival. Yehoshua Ostreicher was four years old.
