Leib Hersch Grinfas

Leib Hersch Grinfas wurde am 7. Februar 1897 in Garwolin einer Kleinstadt bei Warschau geboren. Er heiratete Chaja Smietuch und ging mit ihr nach Frankreich. Das Paar lebte mit seinen Kindern in Bagnolet bei Paris. Nach einer Razzia am 16. Juli 1942 wurden Grinfas und seine Frau zusammen mit anderen Juden im »Velodrom d'Hiver« dem Radstadion des Ortes festgehalten und dann in das Sammellager Drancy gebracht. Am 22. Juli 1942 kam er mit dem neunten Transport in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz. Leib Hersch Grinfas wurde vermutlich nur 45 Jahre alt.

Leib Hersch Grinfas was born on February 7, 1897 in Garwolin, a small town near Warsaw. He married Chaja Smietuch and moved with her to France. The couple and their children lived in Bagnolet near Paris. After a raid on July 16, 1942, Grinfas and his wife, together with other Jews, were detained in the »Velodrom d'Hiver«, the cycling track of the town. They were sent from there to the collection camp Drancy. On July 22, 1942 he was deported with the ninth transport to the extermination camp Auschwitz. Leib Hersch Grinfas was only 45 years old.
