Lily Petzal

Lily Petzal wurde am 21. September 1920 in Arnswalde geboren, einer pommerschen Kleinstadt, die heutige in Polen liegt. Mit der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten begann auch für die Arnswalder Juden die Zeit der Verfolgung. Die Familie Petzal flüchtete nach Stettin, wo sie in die Hände der nationalsozialistischen Behörden geriet. Mitglieder der SS deportierten die 19-jährige Lily Petzal und ihre Eltern nach Piaski im Distrikt Lublin. Die meisten Insassen des Ghettos von Piaski wurden in die Vernichtungslager Belzec und Majdanek verschleppt und dort ermordet. Die Spur von Lily Petzal verliert sich im Ghetto. Die genauen Umstände ihres Todes sind nicht bekannt.

Lily Petzal was born on 21 September 1920 in Arnswalde, a small Pomeranian town, in which is now in Poland. When the Nazi’s came to power, the Jews of Arnswald were subjected to persecution. The Petzal family fled to Stettin, where they ended up in the hands of the National Socialist authorities. Members of the SS deported 19-year-old Lily Petzal and her parents to Piaski in the Lublin district. Most of the inmates in the Piaski ghetto were deported to the Belzec and Majdanek extermination camp, and murdered. Lily Petzal was last seen in the ghetto. The exact circumstances of her death are not known.
