Anka Zajac wurde in der polnischen Hautstadt Warschau geboren. Sie wuchs in der Stadt mit der größten jüdischen Gemeinde Europas auf und ging hier zur Universität. Anka Zajac heiratete Israel Wolf Zajac, den Sohn eines Schumachers. Ende September 1939 besetzte die deutsche Wehmacht Warschau. Ab Herbst 1940 mussten alle Juden der Stadt im Ghetto leben. Anka Zajac überlebte den Hunger, die Kälte und die Krankheiten dort nur ein Jahr lang. Sie erkrankte an Typhus und starb Anfang 1941 im Alter von 27 Jahren.

Anka Zajac was born and raised in the Polish capital, Warsaw, the city with Europe’s largest Jewish community. She attended university there and later married Israel Wolf Zajac, son of a shoemaker. At the end of September 1939, the German Army occupied Warsaw. As of the autumn of 1940 all the Jews of the city had to move to the ghetto. Anka Zajac survived the hunger, cold and illness there for one year, before she contracted typhoid fever and died in early 1941, at the age of 27.
