Hannah Szrajer

Hannah Szrajer lebte im polnischen Dynów. Der kleine Ort liegt am Fuße der Karpaten. Vor dem Krieg baute die jüdische Bevölkerung hauptsächlich Obst für die Herstellung von Marmelade, Saft und Schnaps an. Kurz nach dem Überfall auf Polen im September 1939 erschoss die SS 300 Juden aus Dynów. Einige der überlebenden Juden des Ortes flohen in die Sowjetunion. Hannah Szrajer konnte mit einem gefälschten „arischen“ Pass zunächst in ihrem Heimatort untertauchen. 1943 wurde Hanna Szrajer von der Gestapo entdeckt und auf dem Marktplatz von Dynów hingerichtet.

Hannah Szrajer lived in the Polish town of Dynów, located at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Before the war, the Jewish population made a living primarily through providing fruit for preparation of jams, juices and brandy. Shortly after the German attack on Poland in September 1939, the SS shot 300 Jews from Dynów. A few surviving Jews fled to the Soviet Union. For some time Hannah Szrajer was able to hide in her home town, thanks to a false “Arian” identification pass. In 1943 the Gestapo found her and executed her on the market square of Dynów.
