Mor Fogel

Mor Fogel wurde am 2. Mai 1926 in dem Karpatendorf Batovo geboren. Als er 12 Jahre alt war, wurde sein Heimatort von Ungarn besetzt. 1944 besetzten dann deutsche Truppen das Land. SS-Einsatzkommandos deportierten Mor Fogel wahrscheinlich über Auschwitz-Birkenau zur Zwangsarbeit nach Österreich. In Ebensee, einem Außenlager des Konzentrationslagers Mauthausen, musste er mit den anderen Häftlingen riesige Stollenanlagen in den Berg treiben. Mor Fogel überlebte diese Arbeit nicht.

Mor Fogel was born on 2 May 1926 in the village of Batovo, in the Carpathian mountains. When he was 12 years old, the area was occupied by Hungary. In 1944 German troops entered the country. SS mobile killing squads deported Mor Fogel probably to Auschwitz-Birkenau. From there he was transported to Austria to work as a forced labourer.In Ebensee, a satellite of the Mauthausen concentration camp, he and other prisoners had to construct a large caven in the mountain. Mor Fogel did not survive this labour.
