Esther Weiss

Esther Weiss wurde 1900 geboren. Sie war verheiratet und hatte mit ihrem Mann Lajos Kinder. Sie lebten im slovakischen Batovo, als die Tschechoslowakei 1938 das Grenzgebiet an Ungarn abtreten musste. Der Ort hieß nun Batyu. Als deutsche Truppen das Land 1944 besetzten, deportierten SS-Einsatzkommandos die jüdischen Bewohner in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz. Dort wurden fast alle mit Zyklon B vergiftet, darunter wahrscheinlich auch Esther Weiss. Sie war 44 Jahre alt.

Esther Weiss was born in 1900. She married and her husband Lajos had children. They were living in her birthplace, the Slovakian village of Batovo, in 1938, when Tschechoslovakia had to cede the border region to Hungary. The village’s name was changed to Batyu. When German troops occupied the country in 1944, SS Mobile Killing units deported the Jewish inhabitants to the Auschwitz extermination camp. There, almost all of them were poisened with Zyklon B. Esther Weiss was probably among them. She was 44 years old.
