Gisya Simanovskaja

Gisya Simanovskaja wurde in Mogilew geboren, einer Bezirkshauptstadt in der Mitte Weißrusslands, in der vor dem Krieg 19.000 Juden lebten. Sie wuchs in Mogilew auf, heiratete und zog hier ihre Kinder groß. Am 16. Juli 1941 marschierte die deutsche Wehrmacht in Mogilew ein. Zwei Monate später wurden Gisya Simanovskaja und ihre Familie wie alle Juden der Stadt in ein Ghetto gezwungen. Im Oktober erschoss ein SS-Einsatzkommando mit Unterstützung einheimischer Helfer mehr als 6000 Juden. Wahrscheinlich war auch Gisya Simanovskaja unter den Opfern. Sie wurde vermutlich 39 Jahre alt.

Gisya Simanovskaja was born and raised in Mogilev, a regional capital in central Belarus, home to 19,000 Jews before the war. She married and raised a family there. On July 16,1941 the German Army entered Mogilev. Two months later Gisya Simanovskaja and her family were forced to move into a ghetto with all the other Jews of Mogilev. In October, an SS Mobile Killing Squad commando unit shot more than 6,000 Jews, with help from local police. Gisya Simanovskaja was probably among the victims. She was about 39 years old.
