Mina Wachsmannová

Mina Wachsmannová lebte in Bratislava, das ein bedeutendes Zentrum des orthodoxen Judentums war. In der heutigen Hauptstadt der Slowakei lebten damals etwa 15000 Juden. Ab Ende 1938 erließ die slowakische Regierung, die mit Deutschland verbündet war, immer mehr antijüdische Gesetze. Tausende von Juden aus Bratislava wurden in Provinzstädte vertrieben oder in das besetzte Polen deportiert. Im März 1942 verschleppten Mitglieder der SS 380 Frauen in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz, wo sie mit Giftgas ermordet wurde. Eines der Opfer war Mina Wachsmannová. Sie wurde 41 Jahre alt.

Mina Wachsmannová lived in Bratislava, an important centre of orthodox Jewry. About 15,000 Jews were living in this city, which today is the capital of Slovakia. By the end of 1938, the Slovakian government, allied with Germany, was increasing by voting into law measures. Thousands of Jews from Bratislava were driven out into regional cities or deported to occupied Poland. In March 1942 the SS deported 380 women to the Auschwitz extermination camp, and murdered them with poison gas. One of the victims was Mina Wachsmannová. She was 41 years old.
