Nelly Kurzová

Krankenschwester, geboren 1922 in unbekannt, ermordet 1942 in Auschwitz-Birkenau (VL)

Nelly Kurzová lebte in Bratislava, der Hauptstadt der heutigen Slowakei. Sie war Krankenschwester im jüdischen Krankenhaus der Stadt. Ab Ende 1938 verschärfte die slowakische Regierung ihre antijüdischen Gesetze immer mehr. Von Oktober 1941 bis Juli 1942 wurden etwa 10.000 Juden in Provinzstädte des Landes vertrieben oder in das besetzte Polen deportiert. Im März 1942 verschleppten Mitglieder der SS Nelly Kurzová in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz, wo sie mit Zyklon B erstickt wurde.

Nelly Kurzová lived in Bratislava, today the capital of Slovakia. She was a nurse in the city’s Jewish hospital. Starting at the end of 1938, the Slovakian government began to intensify its anti-Jewish laws. From October 1941 to July 1942 about 10,000 Jews were driven to outlying towns or deported to occupied Poland. In March 1942, SS members deported Nelly Kurzová to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where she was probably asphyxiated with Zyklon B.
