Chaje Ita Lichtman

Chaje Ita Lichtman lebte in Margitta, einer Kleinstadt im heutigen Westen Rumäniens, in der damals über 1000 Juden lebten. Sie war mit dem Industriellen Simon Lichtman verheiratet. Das Ehepaar hatte vier Kinder. 1940 fiel die Heimatregion Chaje Lichtmans gemäß einer internationalen Übereinkunft wieder an Ungarn. Die ungarische Armee rückte ein und erließ eine Reihe von antijüdischen Verordnungen. Im März 1944 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Stadt. Kurz darauf wurde Chaje Ita Lichtman zusammen mit den anderen jüdischen Bewohnern Margittas in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz deportiert und wahrscheinlich mit Zyklon B ermordet.

Chaje Ita Lichtman lived in Margitta, a small town that was home to more than 1,000 Jews, in what is now western Romania She was married to an industrialist, Simon Lichtman, and the couple had four children. In 1940 the region of Chaje Lichtman’s birth was ceded to Hungary, under an international accord. The Hungarian army marched in and enacted a series of anti-Jewish decrees. In March 1944 the German Wehrmacht took control of the town. Shortly after Chaje Ita Lichtman was deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp together with all the other Jewish residents of Margitta, and murdered, probably with Zyklon B.
