Zygmunt Datyner

Zygmunt Datyner wurde am 4. August 1883 in Białystok geboren. Er studierte in Moskau und Berlin Medizin. Nachdem er seinen Doktortitel in Berlin erworben hatte, zog er nach Lodz, wo er als Urologe arbeitete. Anfang September 1939 besetzte die Wehrmacht die polnische Stadt. Kurz danach begann die deutsche Verwaltung mit der Konzentration aller Juden im Armenviertel Bałuty. Auch Zygmunt Datyner musste im Ghetto leben. Bei der Auflösung des Ghettos im August 1944 wurde er in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz Birkenau deportiert und dort kurz nach seiner Ankunft mit Zyklon B ermordet. Zygmunt Datyner war 61 Jahre alt.

Zygmunt Datyner was born on 4 August 1883 in the city of Białystok. He studied medicine in Moscow and Berlin, and after earning a doctorate in Berlin he moved to Lodz, where he practiced medicine as a urologist. In early September 1939 the Wehrmacht occupied the Polish city, and soon the German administration began to concentrate all the Jews in the poor district, Bałuty. Zygmunt Datyner was forced to resettle in the ghetto. During the liquidation of the ghetto in August 1944, he was deported to the Auschwitz Birkenau extermination camp, where he was murdered with Zyklon B shortly after his arrival. Zygmunt Datyner was 61 years old.
