Chana Gorset

Schülerin, geboren 1924 in Lodz/Litzmannstadt/Łódź, ermordet 1945 in Stutthof (KZ)

Chana Gorset wurde am 14. März 1924 in der polnischen Industriestadt Lodz geboren. Dort lebte sie mit ihren Eltern Moszko und Łaja Gorset und war Schülerin. Anfang September 1939 besetzte die Wehrmacht Lodz. Kurz danach begann die deutsche Verwaltung mit der Konzentration aller Juden im Armenviertel Bałuty. Auch Chana Gorset musste im Ghetto leben. Das Ghetto wurde im August 1944 aufgelöst. Chana Gorset wurde zunächst nach Auschwitz deportiert, und von dort in das Konzentrationslager Stutthof verschleppt. Sie starb im Februar 1945 an Typhus. Chana Gorset war 20 Jahre alt.

Chana Gorset was born on 14 March 1924 in the Polish industrial centre of Lodz. She lived there with her parents Moszko and Łaja Gorset and was a schoolgirl. In early September 1939 the Wehrmacht occupied Lodz. Shortly afterwards, the German administration began to concentrate all the Jews in the poor district, Bałuty. Chana Gorset, too, had to live in the ghetto.The ghetto was liquidated in August 1944. Chana Gorset was first deported to Auschwitz, and from there to the Stutthof concentration camp. She died in February 1945 of typhus. She was 20 years old.
