Maria Gutman

Ärztin, geboren 1903 in Lodz/Litzmannstadt/Łódź, ermordet 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau (VL)

Maria Gutman wurde am 4. Oktober 1903 in Lodz geboren. Sie war mit Eliasz Gutman verheiratet. Das Paar hatte drei Kinder. Maria Gutman war Ärztin. Anfang September 1939 besetzte die Wehrmacht die polnische Industriestadt. Kurz danach begann die deutsche Verwaltung mit der Konzentration aller Juden im Armenviertel Bałuty. Auch Maria Gutman musste im Ghetto leben. Bei der Auflösung des Ghettos im August 1944 wurde sie in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz-Birkenau deportiert und kurz nach ihrer Ankunft mit Zyklon B ermordet. Maria Gutman war 40 Jahre alt.

Maria Gutman was born on 4 October 1903 in Lodz. She married Eliasz Gutman, and they had three children. Maria Gutman was a medical doctor. In early September 1939 the Wehrmacht occupied the Polish industrial centre, and soon the German administration began to concentrate all the Jews in the poor district, Bałuty. Maria Gutman was forced to resettle in the ghetto. During the liquidation of the ghetto in August 1944, she was deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where she was murdered shortly after her arrival with Zyklon B. Maria Gutman was 40 years old.
