Zygmunt Krotoszyński

Zygmunt Krotoszyński wurde am 13. März 1873 in der Kleinstadt Kleczew geboren. Später lebte er Lodz wo er Kaufmann war. Anfang September 1939 besetzte die Wehrmacht die Stadt. Kurz danach begann die deutsche Verwaltung mit der Konzentration aller Juden im Armenviertel Bałuty. Auch Zygmunt Krotoszyński musste im Ghetto leben. Der Alltag war von Zwangsarbeit geprägt. Krankheiten, Hunger und Kälte forderten Tausende Todesopfer. Zygmunt Krotoszyński starb am 31. Januar 1943 im Alter von 69 Jahren.

Zygmunt Krotoszyński was born on 13 March 1873 in the small town of Kleczew. Later he lived in Lodz, where he was a merchant. In early September 1939 the Wehrmacht occupied the Polish city, and soon the German administration began to concentrate all the Jews in the poor district, Bałuty. Zygmunt Krotoszyński was forced to resettle in the ghetto. Life there was dominated by forced labour. Thousands died of disease, hunger and cold. One of the victims was Zygmunt Krotoszyński. He died on 31 January 1943 at the age of 69.
