Allegra Tarfon

Allegra Tarfon lebte im griechischen Saloniki. Die Hafenstadt war Mittelpunkt des sephardischen Judentums. Als die Wehrmacht im April 1941 Saloniki eroberte, lebten dort 50.000 Juden. Im März 1943 begann das Berliner Reichssicherheitshauptamt mit der Deportation der jüdischen Bewohner. Auch Allegra Tarfon musste ins große Ghetto nahe dem Bahnhof umsiedeln und wurde spätestens im August 1943 in ein Vernichtungslager - vermutlich Auschwitz-Birkenau - verschleppt. Die genauen Umstände ihres Todes sind nicht bekannt.

Allegra Tarfon lived in the Greek city of Saloniki. This harbour city was the centre of Sephardic Jewry. When the Wehrmacht occupied Saloniki in April 1941, the city was home to 50,000 Jews. In March 1943, the Berlin-based Reich Security Head Office commenced with its deportation of the Jews. Allegra Tarfon was forced to resettle in a large ghetto near the railway station and was eventually deported to an extermination camp - probably Auschwitz-Birkenau - at the latest in August 1943. The exact circumstances of her death are unknown.
