Marie Bloch

Marie Bloch wurde am 12. Juli 1891 im böhmischen Melnik geboren. Sie arbeitete als Angestellte in Prag, wo sie nach dem Tod ihres Mannes allein lebte. Mit dem Einmarsch der Wehrmacht im März 1939 begann die Verfolgung der Prager Juden. Die deutschen Machthaber verschleppten Marie Bloch im Sommer 1942 zunächst in das Ghettolager Theresienstadt und von dort in das jüdische Ghetto von Riga. Wahrscheinlich wurde Marie Bloch wie die meisten Ghettobewohner bei einer Massenerschießung von SS-Einheiten ermordet. Die Umstände ihres Todes sind nicht bekannt.

Marie Bloch was born on 12 July 1891 in the Bohemian town of Melnik. She worked in an office in Prague, where she lived alone after her husband’s death. After the Wehrmacht took over the area in March 1939 the persecution of the Jews of Prague began. The German authorities deported Marie Bloch in the summer of 1942, first to the Theresienstadt ghetto camp and from there to the ghetto in Riga. It is most likely that Marie Bloch was murdered by the SS in a mass shooting, as were most of the people from the ghetto. The exact conditions of her death are unknown.
