Fani Grunzfeld

Fani Gryncfeld wurde 1889 im ungarischen Sopron geboren. Juden lebten dort seit dem 18. Jahrhundert. Nach der Besetzung Ungarns durch die Wehrmacht im März 1944 mussten Fani Gryncfeld und ihr Mann in ein Ghetto ziehen. Dort wohnten sie mit fast zwei Tausend anderen Juden zusammen. Im Juni 1944 verschleppte die SS noch einmal so viele Juden aus den umliegenden Orten nach Sopron. Fani Gryncfeld starb 1944 in ihrer Heimatstadt.

Fani Gryncfeld was born in 1889 in the Hungarian town of Sopron. Jews had lived there since the 18th century. After the Wehrmacht occupied Hungary in March 1944, Fani Gryncfeld and her husband had to move into a ghetto. Almost 2,000 Jews were living with its confines. In June 1944, the SS deported another 2,000 Jews from surrounding towns to Sopron. Fani Gryncfeld died there in 1944.
