Ilona Strobach

Kürschnerin ermordet 1944 in Auschwitz (KZ)

Ilona Strobach wurde 1907 in Sopron geboren, einer Stadt im Westen Ungarns. Ilona Strobach war allein stehend und arbeitete als Kürschnerin. Am 19. März 1944 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht Ungarn. Bereits einen Monat später errichtete die SS ein Ghetto in Sopron. Ilona Strobach wurde dort mit über zwei Tausend anderen Juden zusammen gedrängt. Im Juni 1944 verschleppte die SS alle Ghettobewohner in ein Sammellager nahe der Bahnlinie. Von dort wurden sie in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz deportiert. Ilona Strobach wurde wahrscheinlich gleich nach ihrer Ankunft ermordet.

Ilona Strobach was born in 1907 in Sopron, a town in western Hungary. Ilona Strobach war single and worked as a furrier. On 19 March 1944 the German Wehrmacht occupied Hungary, and only a month later the SS set up a ghetto in Sopron. Ilona Strobach was forced to live there with almost 2,000 other Jews. In June 1944, the SS deported all people living in the ghetto to a transit camp near the railway line. They were deported from there to the Auschwitz extermination camp. Ilona Strobach was probably murdered right after her arrival.
