Joyia David wurde 1875 geboren. Sie lebte mit ihrem Mann und sieben Kindern in der griechischen Stadt Ioannina. Die Familie gehörte zur Gruppe der Romaniotischen Juden, die schon seit byzantinischer Zeit in Griechenland lebte. Im Herbst 1943 fiel Ioannina unter deutsche Besatzung. Am 25. März 1944 verhafteten SS und Polizei fast die gesamte jüdische Bevölkerung des Ortes. Yoyia David wurde zunächst in das Konzentrationslager Larissa, dann nach Auschwitz deportiert. Dort kam sie 1944 um.

Joyia David was born in 1875. She lived with her husband and their seven children in the Greek city of Yannina. The family was part of the Romaniote Jewish community, which traced its roots back to the Byzantine era in Greece. The German Army occupied Yannina in the autumn of 1943. On 25 March 1944 the SS and police arrested almost the entire local Jewish population. Joyia David was deported initially to the concentration camp Larissa, then to Auschwitz. Joyia David died there in 1944.
