Agnes Lebovics

Agnes Lebovics wurde am 13. April 1939 im tschechoslowakischen Chust geboren. Gemeinsam mit ihren Schwestern Eva und Vera wuchs sie hier heran. Chust wurde 1939 von Ungarn annektiert. Ihr Vater musste daraufhin in Ungarn Zwangsarbeit leisten. Anfang 1944 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Stadt. Die Besatzer drängten Agnes und ihre verbliebene Familie ins Ghetto. Im Mai 1944 wurden sie in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz deportiert. Dort wurde Agnes von ihrer Mutter getrennt und mit Giftgas ermordet. Agnes Lebovics war 5 Jahre alt.

Agnes Lebovics was born on 13 April 1939 in the Czechoslovakian city of Chust. She grew up here with her sisters Eva and Vera. Chust had been annexed by Hungary in 1939, and Agnes Lebovic’s father was taken off to work as a slave labourer for Hungary. In early 1944 the German Army occupied the city. The occupiers forced Agnes and the rest of her family to move into a ghetto. In May 1944 they were deported to the Extermination Camp Auschwitz, where Agnes was separated from her mother and murdered with poison gas. Agnes Lebovics was 5 years old.
