Louise Sarfati

Louise Sarfati wurde am 15. Mai 1914 in der französischen Hafenstadt Marseille geboren. Ende 1942 besetzte die Wehrmacht die Südzone Frankreichs. In einer dreitägigen Verhaftungsaktion nahmen französische Polizisten Anfang 1943 etwa 6.000 Personen, unter ihnen viele Juden, fest. Sie wurden unter Aufsicht der SS in das Internierungslager Compiègne gebracht und von dort am 23. März 1943 in das Vernichtungslager Sobibor deportiert. Louise Sarfati wurde vermutlich gleich nach der Ankunft mit Motorabgasen vergiftet. Sie war 28 Jahre alt.

Louise Sarfati was born on 15 May 1914 in the harbour city of Marseilles in southern France. At the end of 1942 the Wehrmacht occupied the southern zone of France. In a three-day mass arrest action in early 1943, French police took into custody about 6,000 people, including many Jews. They were taken under SS guard to the Compiègne internment camp, and deported from there on 23 March 1943 to the Sobibor Extermination Camp. Louise Sarfati was probably poisoned with engine exhaust fumes right after arrival. She was 28 years old.
