Adolf Abraham Antmann

Goldschmied und Juwelier, geboren 1871 in Przemysl/Przemyśl, ermordet 1942 in Majdanek (KZ)

Adolf Abraham Antmann wurde um 1871 im galizischen Przemyśl geboren. Mit seiner Frau und seinen fünf Söhnen lebte er im Slowakischen Nitra, dessen jüdische Gemeinde die älteste und größte des Landes war. Als Goldschmied und Juwelier war Adolf Antmann in Nitra zu Wohlstand gekommen. Im Frühjahr 1942 wurde er mit seiner Familie in das Konzentrationslager Lublin-Majdanek deportiert. Seinem Sohn Samuel gelang es zunächst, den Vater in der Uhrmacherwerkstatt des Lagers unterzubringen. Doch erkrankte Adolf Antmann bald darauf an Fleckfieber und starb noch im selben Jahr. Er wurde etwa 71 Jahre alt.

Adolf Abraham Antmann was born around 1871 in the Galician city of Przemyśl. He lived with his wife and their five sons in the Slovakian city of Nitra, whose Jewish community was the oldest and largest in the country. As goldsmith and jeweller, Adolf Antmann became affluent in Nitra. In the spring of 1942 he and his family were deported to the concentration camp of Lublin-Majdanek. His son Samuel was able to bring his father into the watchmaker's workshop at the camp. But Adolf Antmann soon became ill with typhus and died that year. He was about 71 years old.
